For hundreds of years, humans have participated in wars and battles against one another in order to stand up for their beliefs and to gain something from their opponents. As Stephen Crane implied, gaining the courage and making the decision to fight can a huge impact on the person. " In society today war contributes to a person's transition from adolescence to adulthood. I think it is a shame that one would have to go through such a tragic experience to have such a strong affect. That fact alone has a massive impact on the soldiers fighting, which helps them evolve from adolescence to adulthood. He had touched the great death and was for others. For example, Henry, like all other soldiers at war, had to make a very difficult decision, perhaps the hardest decision he will have to make in his life: save himself-run from the enemy and desert his regiment-or fight, be brave, and risk his life. Like most other soldiers at war, Henry received a wound, and it was wrapped with a white bandage. Crane is also praised for his realistic writing as it implies the actual effect that war usually has on young men. To compare their fear earlier to the satisfying relief after they have been through may make a youth soldier feel that they are now a man.
