My Views on the Death Penalty

Many people have different views on the Death Penalty. Personally, I believe in the Death Penalty. I feel that if someone has the ability to kill someone and is convicted of first-degree murder than we as a society have the right to decide whether the convicted should live or die. Here in California, if someone commits a capital crime (which includes First Degree Murder with special circumstances; train wrecking, treason, perjury causing execution) they can receive the Death Penalty.
The death penalty affirms the value of the human life that was taken by the criminal who is to be executed. It affirms that we as a society will not tolerate murder (that is, the deliberate, unjustified killing of innocents). It prevents people who have committed horrible crimes from enjoying lifelong hotel accommodations and amenities at the expense of families of crime victims. Some people think that the Death Penalty is like man playing God. But in my opinion, I look at it as society protecting one another. I have been on both sides of the law and I have known people who should have met the Death Penalty but didn't and have gone out again to repeat their actions over and over. If some of those people had been sentenced to the Death Penalty, then some of my friends might still be alive today.
I will always support the Death Penalty. I am not willing to see more innocents die because someone wants to get by in life easier. The people that think they can murder anyone and not face the punishment that they deserve are the people that think they can play God.
