yom hashoah
Historically, the Jewish community has struggled through many hardships that crossed their paths. As a culture, they blamed this all on theirselves and saw it as a way for God to induce punishment. Through floods, plagues, enslavement, and persecution they endured the "wrath of God." But none of this prepared them for the on fall of World War II and the termination of over six million Jews. Today, the Jewish community celebrates Yom HaShoah, the festival of Holocaust, annually. Why would a culture relive the sorrow that was experienced by their ancestors? While they may vary, many Jews find many dimensions of significance in the Holocaust. The first of these dimensions is gratitude. The Jewish people were close to wiped out of existence by the Nazi regime, but today they are beginning to strengthen in numbers again. If the rest of the world was blind to the tyranny much longer, there would be no more Jews to save. Even if few were saved, they would surely denou
Parents gave their food to their children so they could keep their strength. But it only caused them to become stronger. The second dimension is appreciation of family. Their want is for others to be horrified so that this may never happen again. The Jews were put through Hell and lived to tell about it. The fifth dimension is remembrance. Injustice is all over the world and no one should be its victim. They continued to keep on struggling through life so that they might survive. This is not because they want those who did not want them to be horrified and feel their pain. Because of their will, they survived the holocaust not only as a person but as a people. The Holocaust will be remembered for the Jews who survived and rose above the Nazis. Family ties grew greatly in the concentration camps for the fact that their was no one else they knew except for the family the were brought to the camp with. All around the Jews in the Holocaust there was death and suffering. The Holocaust will not be remembered for the Nazis voracity towards the Jews.
