Fate and Romeo and Juliet
Romeo and Juliet are the main contributors to their death however they are also victims of fateAlthough fate seems to be a large controlling factor attributed to the deaths of Romeo and Juliet, their rash and spur of the moment choices contribute to their fate rather than fate itself. Romeo and Juliet's meeting was by fate and the fact that Juliet falls in love with a loathed enemy is also fate. Her parents place unnecessary pressure on her and she spends a lot of her time lying to them. Juliet does however manage to realise and ignore what the result of her actions could be and was the first to suggest marriage to Romeo. Romeo is a star-crossed lover and complicates matters more than once when he first takes on Juliets cousin and secondly fails to receive an important message correctly due to fateful circumstances. This results in Romeo making his own decision to kill himself while at Juliet's side. The couple contribute greatly to their own demise however they are also victims of fate.Shakespeare mentions fate and how Romeo and Juliet are subject to it often throughout the play. This results in Romeo having no chance of being accepted into the Capulet household to which he would have had a greater chance had he not murdered Juliet's cousin. The couple acted on impulse and barely thought things through. In summary Romeo and Juliet were victims of fate and were forced through fate to act on impulse some of the time. If Juliet was able to see Romeo's face she probably wouldn't have fallen in love with him. Not only is it fate that Romeo meets Juliet and falls in love with her but it is also complicating and fateful that Juliet is a loathed enemy and shouldn't have anything to do with Romeo. Romeo gate-crashers the party in order to find Rosaline however by chance meets Juliet to whom he falls in love with at first sight. The choice for Romeo to end his life is also his own with no-one else being responsible for this decision. However the way they handled situations was immature and as a result caused their own deaths. Opposing the above paragraph Romeo's rash thinking and thoughtless actions played a main part towards his death. This also puts a strain on the couple's relationship, with Juliet doubting Romeo and not being able to see him. A pare of star-crossed lovers take their lives. It was his choice to chase after Tybalt and avenge his friend's death, causing him to be banished or worse killed.
