Everglades Restoration Project
The natural habitat of the Everglades is breathe-taking. I could stare in aw for days viewing all the wildlife in its home, its kingdom of plants of all sorts. Everything from shrubs to trees and the grass beneath them makes it home in the Everglades. Sadly this habitat is being destroyed over time by the human population. Now there is a group of workers who have helped with others to pass the bill known as "The Everglades Restoration Project". With this project people will dedicate there time and money to keep the everglades as vast and beautiful as it was before construction and pollution tore up this wetland. The Everglades, before man interfered with the natural flow and wildlife, was the largest wetland in the world! It covered almost one third of the southern tip of Florida. The everglades were nicknamed the River of Grass because the way the grass would ripple with the wind reminded people of a wave running through water. According to www.nps.com (National Park Service Website) the Everglades used to span over 3 million acres from Lake Okeechobee to the Florida Bay. The size now has been greatly reduced because of the human population. They invaded the Everglades and drained it for their use. They used the la
The groups include some organizations such as Biscayne National Park, the Everglades agricultural Area, the National Park Service, the University of South Florida, and the U. The changes in the water flow from Lake Okeechobee to the Florida Bay have impacted the Everglades greatly. Phosphorus pollution has made the invasive exotic species more at home than they should be. In conclusion, the Everglades have been through some rough times but in the end wildlife and all of nature will be free to roam and grow. The inhabitants made canals and dikes to change the flow of the water to use for their crops and to prevent flooding. This caused us to destroy most of the homes and habitat for the wildlife in the everglades. nd to build homes and also for agricultural reasons. The damages dealt will hopefully be recovered from the E. This will help the native species make for a comeback and thrive. Some of the animals started to die off because there wasn't enough habitat to sustain all of the species. This will help the natural flora and fauna thrive in their own habitat. This project has its good views and bad views but in the end everything should turn out great!. These parts of the project include Improving quality, quantity, timing, and distribution of water flow to and through the Everglades and to estuaries is one of the steps. It also caused the species to live in a smaller area. This will make better homes for the wildlife, helping provide for sustainable populations of native plant and animal species.
