nietzsche

When questioning the issue of our existence one must go to the basic questions such as, "If we exist, then who created us?" Many religious and spiritual people would have a very simple answer...God. So this leads the questioning philosopher to ask how do we know that God exists? This is a question that can be looked at with a variety of different perspectives and first questions. In the section of The Gay Science, entitled The Madman, Nietzsche claims that our lack of faith has lead to God's demise (Nietzsche, The Gay Science, 181). Without God how can we exist? Nietzsche's answer would be that it is not God's existence, but the presence of our individual autonomy, that is our existence.Nietzsche lived in a time of great political, social and religious change, and in his philosophical examination of society, Nietzsche found that the only philosophical ideal that could be related to these modern times, was nihilism. Nietzsche believed that because of the social instability, due to radical change, the philosophies of the ancient Greeks such as Plato as well as the philosophies of modern philosophers were no longer applicable. The reason for the lack of validity in the ideals of all other philosophers was that society had

This doctrine claims that human beings are so defective, so worthy of damnation and that God is so cruel and vindictive, that the only way of redeeming our situation is for God to take human form and be tortured to death. This is one of the concepts that must be highlighted when discussing the truth of things, specifically philosophies. The ideals of determinism are not often used in contrast with those of Nietzsche, due to the fact that these ideals are almost exact opposites, but many of Nietzsche's theories may be applied to a determinist philosophy. Nietzsche stresses the contrast between Dionysus and Christ ("the anointed one" as interpreted by Saint Paul). Lightning and thunder require time. This is a view that states, that every event has a cause that is predetermined, but the individual choices that are made are not set out and are voluntary. To delve even deeper into the description of determinism read earlier, we must first explain the difference between the two types of determinism. Nietzsche: The Man and His Philosophy. In The Gay Science, in the section called The Madman, Nietzsche describes this condemning of human ideals, when he makes the claim "God is dead" (Nietzsche, The Gay Science, 181). The Ubermench is used by Nietzsche to represent: strength, courage, nobility, style and refinement (Solomon, 215). And since our choices have been already determined, our existence is not dependant on our ability to make these choices, but it is dependant on questioning why these choices have been made for us.
