Capital Punishment

             Murder is a very serious crime that affects everyone emotionally, mentally, or physically. Nowadays terrible crimes such as murders are happening everyday. Many people believe that these criminals should be sentenced to death. The death penalty is a just punishment to bring justice to these crimes. There's no doubt that capital punishment is barbaric, but since murder itself is barbaric, the death penalty seemed to be the appropriate punishment for it. People's fear of death would prevent further crimes to be done. When people see what the consequences of such atrocious crime would be, there would be less people that would risk their lives for it. Some may argue that there is a possibility of an innocent being killed. However, with today's society it would hardly ever happen.
             Some may argue that the death penalty is a cruel and inhumane punishment. However, since the crime that was originally done was as of the same cruel and inhumane injustice, capital punishment seemed to be the fitting sentence for the crime. "An eye for an eye" is how the saying goes. It is the only way to satisfy the victim's family; to see the culprit behind the crime pay for his/her own life for killing another. The criminal put it upon himself. Capital punishment might not be civilized however our society is not either. If it were there would be no crimes.
             When people know what the consequence of their actions would be, they would think twice if it is worth what they are going to give up; in this case their lives. People do fear death. They would rather than live than die. By eliminating violent murderers, there would be more public safety. People would lessen their worries when a murderers are put to death. There is a sense of security there. Some may argue that capital punishment does not really deter crimes. In broad perspective this might be true.
