Like water for chocolate

             Magic- any mysterious, seemingly inexplicable, or extraordinary power or quality. Magic is a wonderful thing. It shocks people and confuses them. It is a unexplainable phenomenon. In the novel Like Water For Chocolate by Laura Esquivel, Titas emotions affect the people around her and creates magic that she can not control. Esquivel suggests that Titas emotions make magic and effects everyone around her. In the novel, Titas emotions affect her food and her body.
             Titas emotions her food that she prepares. When Tita was making the cake for Pedro and Rosauras wedding she started to cry. She was crying because her love (Pedro) was getting married. She was so sad that "the batter would not thicken because Tita kept crying"(30). At the wedding the guests took one bite of the cake and " everyone was flooded with a great wave of longing"(39). All the people who were at the wedding felt very sad and depressed. Her emotions were so strong that it make magical things happen like making everyone at the wedding weep.
             Another example of magical realism is when Tita's breasts were magically filled with milk. Pedro saw Tita bending over and he was staring at her breasts. They connected eyes and " Pedro had transformed Tita's breasts from chaste to experienced flesh, without even touching them"(67). It was like they had been together before when the haven't even touched. Then, later when Rosaura had her baby it needed milk. Rosaura couldn't provide milk so Tita tried to breast feed her even though she didn't have breast milk. Then she " removed the boy from her breast. A thin stream of milk sprayed out"(76). She magically was producing breast milk without being pregnant.
             In the book, Like Water For Chocolate, Esquivel suggests that Tita's emotions affect the people around her and make magic. Her emotions are so strong that she made food that made everyone who ate it sad a...
