Christian Morality Euthanasia

The issue which I will be discussing throughout this report is euthanasia. Euthanasia means assisted death, for those people who make a conscious decision that what want to die, or those who are unable to communicate their wishes because of their inflictions.
The problem with euthanasia is of course, the moral dilemma. When somebody says that they want to die, whether it be a terminal illness or something similar, that person must make the decision to either help them, or to go against their wishes. The two competing viewpoints are, that if someone wishes to die and they do have a seriously debilitating illness that they should be helped to die. The other view is that the person with the illness may recover and be grateful that the person they asked to help end their life in fact did not.
The people who do assist in their death believe they are doing the right thing by helping the people who wish to die, justifying it by the mentality "do unto others are they do unto you". On the other side of the spectrum, there are those who believe that people should die naturally whether they are suffering or not because if they do perform euthanasia there is a chance that they will be prosecuted.
The basic moral principles regarding euthanasia is whether or not person's who wish to die or who would be better off dead (depending on the circumstances) the same way we treat a horse with a broken neck etc, should be assisted in their death, or left to live out the course of their natural life.
The people impacted in this issue are most obviously the people, who wish to perform euthanasia, those against it, and the person who would be assisted to die.
The Catholic response to euthanasia is that the quality of life is important.
