Biography of Mother Teresa

             What were the influences in Mother Teresa's life that motivated her actions and what were the consequences of her actions on society during that period?
             Mother Teresa had many influences in her life that contributed to her actions. The major influence in her life was God. God was the motivating force that influenced Mother Teresa in helping the poorest of the poor, the abolition of abortion and the preaching of the notion that God's love was in each and every one of us. Various sources state that through her actions, society at that time had conflicting ideas. Some sources have stated that a number of people in society were hostile and critical ofher work, whilst some sources state that others were inspired by her work to join Mother Teresa in her quest for love and peace.
             It is understood that Mother Teresa's parents raised her firmly and lovingly, greatly influencing her character and vocation. She had been quoted as saying "By faith, I am a Catholic nun. As to my calling, I belong to the world. As to my heart, I belong entirely to the heart of Jesus." It was in September of 1946 that Mother Teresa received a divine calling from God to serve him amongst the poorest of the poor. It could be said that through this calling she was able to launch her works for God. She dedicated all of her adult life to the caring of the dying, the cripple, the mentally ill, the unwanted and the unloved. It could be stated that Christ led her to Calcutta to live in the slums and share her life with the poor there. Her belief was that serving others was an important part of God's message. "Remember that God has created each one for Greater things- to love and to be loved...I must love each one as God has loved us" . Mother Teresa became God's instrument. She carried out the tasks of God. She once stated in an interview with the Times: " I am like a little pencil in his hand. That is all. He does the thinking. He does the writing.
