Same Sex Marriage

Will and Grace. Queer Eye for the Straight Guy. These hit televisions shows are some examples of how far acceptance of homosexuals have come in our culture. What once was considered lewd and shameful behavior that people were shunned and outcast for is now widely accepted by the public as a normal lifestyle. Now that acceptance is being put to the legal test. Does our society really tolerate homosexuals? Or have homosexual rights not come as far as we think they have? Because I am not religious I don't consider these arguments to be valid because there is and always has been a separation between church and state; religious beliefs should have no influence on decisions made in the government. Many same-sex couples have been committed to each other for many years and have more faith in the sanctity of marriage than heterosexual across the country. There are gay sitcoms, gay parades etc. A civil union gives some of the same rights as marriage, depending on the specific state, but often times is not as legally or socially accepted. " There's no reason not to include sexual orientation in "other status" and there's no reason to deny homosexual Cox 3couples Article 16, which declares that "men and women of full age. " At a hearing, when Judge Dale Koch asked Clark what specific harm handing out marriage license to same-Cox 4sex couples does, Clark could not produce an intelligible answer.
