The American Dream is a vision with diverse sense and meaning to manyAmericans since the previous generations up to the generation of today.Even in other parts of the world, the American Dream is aspired to be reachby many people who want something new and better compared to how theirlifestyles and cultures currently go. Sometimes, the American Dreambecomes the measure of a competitive way of living.To many Americans, and to other nationalities as well, the American Dreamis a change for the better. It involves changes and improvements in anumber of aspects such as in economy, traditions, social status, andlifestyles. It is a transformation from a standard and general status intoa stable progress, growth, and advantage.A few decades ago, the American Dream is a simple dream of having a stableliving where one has a job and is able to feed his family. However, thecivilization of America revolutionized at a fast pace. The economy risesthrough the facilities of new technological advancements. Differentbusiness sectors, both public and private, healthily compete with eachother and with international market to be one of the best. Hence, poverty among African-Americans became prevalentin many parts of America. e altered the old sense ofthe American Dream to many. Although, there still someexistence of discrimination on them. In contrast to the rising status and progress ofwhite-colored Americans in the working sectors, most Negros werediscriminated, providing them with no opportunities in stable and well-compensated jobs. I have a dream that my four little children will one day live in a nation where they will not be judged by the color of their skin but by the content of their character. Martin Luther King Jrstated the sad fact the Negros still experienced 100 years later aftertheir emancipation. However, to an African-American like me, the sense of American Dream hasnot been much changed, as it did to others, by the advancements intechnologies, industries, and different opportunities currently availablethat are capable of changing a lifestyle through financial progress. One hundred years later, the Negro is still languishing in the corners of American society and finds himself an exile in his own land. Somedecades ago, in some schools, Negros were not admitted for education. But to each of us, theAmerican Dream is a vision of making our lives and everyone's lives better. Due to discrimination and non-acknowledgment ofNegros as Americans who deserve the same rights white-colored Americansreceive, Negros became the subject of trials and judgments in many courts,convicted of crimes they never committed. African-American's dream of obtaining racial equality concerns relatedaspects that result from discrimination practices. This dream successfully lives todayand is enjoyed by every citizens of America. These are racial equality,economic fairness, non-discriminatory practices in education, housing, employment and promotions,and fair criminal justice system.
