Educational Resilience

             Educational resilience is particularly an offspring of the broader
             idea of resilience. This sort of resilience has many faces, and has many
             intricacies to it, which helps a person attain success in spite of
             difficult circumstances or when there is no proper result. In spite of it
             being a new segment of analytical study, the base for research which
             portrays resilience is to a reasonable extent adequately molded.
             This particular segment of study has thrown light into the fact that
             children are at adversity which has its foundation on the existence of many
             aspects which have been proved to be in association with difficult
             prevalent state of affairs (lack of basic amenities, minority status and
             dependence to drugs), and there was also a close examination of children
             who have come out with flying colors in spite of the difficult
             circumstances. After making a study of the populations that are at high
             risk, the analysis has helped identified aspects which curb the outcomes of
             being prone to hazards individually or that which may arise from the
             environment and thus helping the children who are at high risk from
             overcoming the difficulties in spite of a sense of defeatism arising from a
             situation. There are environmental, physical aspects, and aspects of
             apprehension and in a broader sense stamped as relating to the person and
             relating to the environment. (Garmezy, 1991, 423).
             A general awareness of aspects that are closely in relation with
             resilience has given a foundation for study of educational resilience more
             based on theory and that which is experimental. There is a particular
