Charles Darwin was the first person to propose the theory of "naturalselection" and "Survival of the fittest" by which he explained the innerworkings of nature to either help sustain or eliminate a species. Accordingto the theory it is the design of nature to sustain the healthy and thestrong so that best of species survive to create a stronger progeny. Thetheory of evolution explains the alteration in characteristics of speciesover a period of time to survive the adverse conditions. Darwin's theory ofsurvival of the fittest has been much espoused by political leaders and ithas been used extensively to support and explain their colonial andimperialistic tendencies. Even some religious leaders used Darwin's theoryto explain racial and religious superiority. The writings of Josiah Strong,the protestant reformer of the ninetieth century clearly echoes his beliefof the superiority of the Anglo Saxon race. Strong's writing indicates an intense religious tone combined withracial prejudice. Hitler's Racism Hitler's ideology was also defined by his intense belief in Darwinism(survival of the fittest) and racial superiority. [Hitler, 234] So wesee that Darwinism is a deeply ingrained belief in Hitler. Hitlerfirmly believed in Darwin's philosophy that nature is more powerful thanany other human force and that the struggle for survival is an essentialpart of her plans to bring out the best race. This racistbelief which was firmly ingrained in Hitler during his days in Vienna ledhim to conclude that exterminating Jews was the only way to restore orderand prosperity back to Germany. He considered racial crossing as a sinful act leading to theformation of inferior breed of people, which spoiled thousands of years ofevolutionary work of Mother Nature. Strong on the other hand ascribes thesuccess of America to the Anglo Saxon community and also seems to supportthe theory that intermingling of races result in a stronger race, which isin stark contrast to Hitler's stress on racial purity as a precondition forsuccessful civilization. Hence Hitler staunchly opposed racialmixing and for this reason Germans were never allowed to marry Jews. So Strong argues that America is well on its way to producing thebest ever civilization in the world and that it is the Anglo Saxoncommunity who will ultimately colonize every part of the world. The point thatneeds to be clearly understood is that Darwin's theory of evolution isentirely against Christian religious basis as god created all speciesinstantly (7 days, genesis). And from a purely practical point of viewit is certainly true that Hitler's appreciation and application ofDarwinist principles lead to human catastrophe. he explains them, events that were designed by Mother Nature. The degree of hatred that he developed isobvious in his remarks in Mein kampf, "Jewish self expansion is a parasiticphenomenon; since the Jew is always looking for new pastures for his race. It is this irrational racistideology and his belief in the 'survival of the fittest' Darwinism that ledhim to ordering the killing of millions of Jews.
