Fliedner. This was at Kaiserworth, near the town of Dusseldorf. This visit
encouraged Florence to take up nursing as a career and she returned to
Dusseldorf to take up training for three months the next year. This started
her career as Superintendent of the Establishment for Gentlewomen during
illness. This establishment was at 1, Harley Street at London. The next
step in her career came when Britain, France and Turkey declared a war on
