The source is repeating second-hand information from various sources. I believe that the intended audience is students, or anyone else looking for research. The information is presented to show the facts they know, gathered from 20 different sources and put into subheadings. Emotionally charged words are not used in this piece but there are many words that seem to confuse the reader. Many of these words could be replaced with words that are simpler and much less confusing. The facts are used to support theories that have already been proved. I believe that they used all the facts and did not omit some to create a bias. This piece does not sway my opinion because it is just stating facts. I do not believe that the topic was oversimplified at all; the researchers used many different sources and refer to many books and journals previously written. The author is W.E. The information is a bit outdated because all of there statistics are from 12 years ago. I believe that the author left out facts. I believe that the facts would have been credible twelve years ago, but not today. If anything, she has made it very hard to comprehend what she is saying. The information comes from the American Medical Association; I believe it is qualified to state the facts. Families who have had direct contact with children's aid agree that there needs to be more done before taking a child from a home. She has worked there for over twelve years and has written articles from many subjects. The vocabulary is mostly negative when there are quotes or opinion about Children's aid. This piece is not meant to sway opinions, just to educate.
