E-Commerce
K-Mart Web Site: During my visit at www.kmart.com, I found that Kmart website is an elegant site that offers a complete picture of various productsalong with their specifications that Kmart sells through its web site. Byclicking through different products shown on the web site, I found thatthat Kmart's web site provides a satisfactory on-line customer experience. Not only K-mart's web site enables easy interactivity along with completespecification of the products, but also it makes it quite easy forcustomers to check through different products and compare their prices. Forexample, Kmart has made it quite simple for customers to place their ordersand make payment through the credit cards. I experimented with the processof ordering and found that the whole process of ordering the products isquite easy. In addition, I discovered that its site is easy to navigatethat simplifies the whole process of getting a good over view of theproducts. In addition, I found that Wallmart's web site offers sufficient amount of information about its productson the web site. Both of the sites have enabled customer interactionsby providing useful information about their offering and allowing them tocompare prices on several features of different products and services. Interaction: On this dimension of usability, I did not find muchdifference between Walmart's or K mart's web sites, as both of thesesites provided the same amount of interactivity in facilitating the processof ordering through their Web sites. Despite thesedifferences, I found that Wall Mart site takes much more time to load thanthe K-mart site, even though Wall mart site offers several options ofcomparing various products of the same brand together. Ease of Product and price Comparison: On this dimension, I found that Walmart's web site provides a clear way of comparing different products of thesimilar brands, accompanied with their prices than that of Kmart's siteprovides. Thiscould be because both K-mart and Walmart do majority of their businessesthrough traditional stores rather than the Internet. So in comparing the usability of K-mart's and Walmart's web site, there is not much significant difference on the usability dimension. In the following section, I look at different dimensions of usabilityfor Kmart and Walmart. Ease of Customization: On this dimension, I found that Walmart providesmore options to customers to customize orders than the K-mart's siteprovides. Inaddition, both sites have provided enough opportunities to customers tomake product and service selection easily, place their orders, pay throughthe credit cards, and complete business transactions via the Internet. Todeal with growing customer expectations in products and service, both K-mart or Walmart have made easy to buy products from their Web sites andreturn at the local stores. Therefore, both ofthese sites can be considered similar in the ease of the use. Similar to K-mart, Walmart site is easy to use and makes itsimple for customers to place the order and check out.
