Observation of a Park
The park always seems to be the place we go when we want to relax. Thepark is obviously a place of escaping the constraints of the world. Peopleare walking, children are playing, and the pace in general seems to be at amore relaxed pace in the park. My visit to the park was one that I thoughtwould reveal a certain level of tranquility and peace. It did, until I When I first arrived at the park, it was mid-morning and the air wasbrisk and fresh. The breeze that rustled through the tree branchesimmediately refreshed me. The sun danced brilliantly on the green leavesas they swayed in the breeze. It even smelled nice. I found my way to abench in the shade where I would be fairly undisturbed as I observed my Slowly drowning out the sound of the leaves rustling in the breeze wasthe sound of children playing. On the other side of the park, severalchildren were using the typical park accessories. Two children wereswinging and screeching in delight while three others spun around on an oldmerry-go-round. Across from the swings a mother anxiously awaited hersmall son at the bottom of a silvery slick slide. Watching the children
With every sound, hestopped and froze, looking and waiting. Theywore matching blue jackets and were holding hands. I found myselftrying to be very still as not to frighten him but my eyes would dartaround to find what he heard every time he froze. He looked helplessly up the tree trunk and whimpered. Butonce he made his way to the morsels, he dropped the bag and devoured eachlittle piece. After placing about fourtwigs on the piles of leaves, he began gathering more leaves and makinganother pile just a few inches from the first one. Unlikethe squirrel, the dog seemed oblivious to the fact that anyone or anythingwas around. Once time it wasobviously a loud car in desperate need of a muffler. I heard more rustling and even a crackling sound and suddenly thesquirrel darted up the tree. She was wearing a red baseballcap and she carried small dumbbells in her hands. Iwatched as he carefully picked up one, looked around for any people, andquickly added it to his pile. When he finished, he rested for a moment under the bench andseemed to enjoy the breeze as much as I did. I wasinstantly reminded of the dizzying feeling that spinning around caused.
