A Tale of Two Cities

             Power is the control and influence over other people and their actions (Encarta). The abuse or misuse of power can lead to corruption. Many world leaders have used their power in an incorrect manner leading to disorder.
             George W. Bush is one of the most powerful people in the world. "He probably has the largest field of maneuver available to any president since Franklin D. Roosevelt after December 7, 1941" (Newhouse 3). George Bush is currently fighting a war against terrorism. Bush however refuses to take into consideration that the war he is fighting may never end. "If there is a "war" against terrorism, it is a war that cannot be won" (Pillar 217). Bush nonetheless is using his power to continue this war.
             "Just nine days after the attacks of 9/11, Bush told other governments what he would continue to tell them: 'Either you are with us, or you are with the terrorists'" (Newhouse 9). Bush is spreading the idea that if you are not an ally of the United States then we want to fight you too. "Disregard for the interests and views of others carry penalties" (Newhouse 10). Many studies have shown that views of the United States have severely darkened due to how we are handling the terrorist's attacks and the war in Iraq (NYRT). George Bush is ruining the United States foreign relations because he is not cooperating with the United Nations.
