The Benefits of E-business

E-business functionality is useful to me where I work because it allows the parents of the students the ability to check grades online, keeping a serious eye on the deeds (or misdeeds) of their children. The school system (district) where I work is selling a product to the parents, and in regards to that my school has footed the bill to have software developed that allows parents, students, administrators and teachers to all interact online. This type of software allows for a Customer Relationship Management in regards to what is being attempted (the education of young students in a most proficient method). By developing this type of software, the school system, as the vendor was attempting to initiate a niche type of philosophy. The specific function developed for the school system in regards to its use of e-business was the ability for all to interact in a timely manner in order to facilitate a structure that would provide an educational environment that is considered one of the best in the state. This afforded the school system its own little niche that appealed to some of the wealthiest citizens in the area, drawing their students to the school. Maintaining that advantage is important to the school system,

Using this type of e-business approach also allow(s) the school system to get closer to its customers via the personalization of the website and the software applications. With open communications available to all participants, the amount of time spent in communicating with the separate parties is drastically cut. The students then have the ability, while at school, to access the payment made by their parents by entering a code into a debit machine. Some would say that there is no better use than this one. not only because it is judged on how well it provides an education for its students, but also because the additional students attending the school(s) generates more dollars from the state, since each student represents a set number of dollars per school. The students can go online, pull up the day's (or week's) assignment, interact with the teacher via email and instant messaging for clarification and even upload their assignments for perusal and editing (if necessary). This ensures that the teachers and administrators are using time in a wise manner, allowing for more hands-on instruction and teaching. This e-business initiative also is constructive in its use for the students who wish to use it on a regular basis to learn more about the particular subject(s) which they are studying. This simplification was one of the primary purposes of the school system purchasing such a system in the first place. Using the internet also allows for more automation for the schools, not having to worry about certain transactions that were formerly only done by humans. The system is an internal integrated business plan because it not only allows students and teachers to interact but it is also tied into a system that allows the parents to pay for school fees, lunches and other expenses from the comfort of their own homes, using their own computers. The debit machine deducts the amount of the expense from the account and prints a receipt for the student. The school system wished to leverage the internet to build its market share of the 'best' students in the area. These benefits were not only advantageous to the district, but to the students, and the parents who were seeking an improved educational experience for their students.
