Revolutionary War Military Leaders: George Washington and Lord Cornwallis

George Washington was born in Virginia on February 22, 1732 to Augustine Washington and Mary Ball Washington. Born in a wealthy family, George Washington was able to study and inherit properties. Even during his early age, George Washington had already demonstrated interest in military arts. In 1754, at 22 years of age, he was already fighting in battles, particularly in the French and Indian War where he was the Lieutenant Colonel. The major military leadership of George Washington happened in 1775 in the American Revolution where he had been the Commander in Chief of the Continental Army.George Washington had a defensive military strategy. Although his army suffered several defeats, Washington never gave up. He continued to boost his arm


In 1981, after years of fighting in war against the British forces, General Washington and his army along with the French troops had their greatest victory. Cornwallis led the British army in the South when Clinton left for New York. Lord Charles Cornwallis was among the British personalities fighting against the American armies in Seven Years War, or the American Revolution to the Americans. He was also a part of England's victory at Brandywine (The American Revolution Online). That is, they had won the Battle of Yorktown, which marked the beginning of Revolutionary War's conclusion and where Cornwallis, an admirable British army leader, surrendered along with a large number of the British army. Lord CornwallisLord Charles Cornwallis was born in England on December 31, 1737. Cornwallis played an important role in the victory of England at the Battle of Long Island. y's spirit and bravely lead them to battle. One significant victory that Cornwallis had won was against Horatio Gates at Camdem in 1780. Cornwallis surrendered to the Americans in October 1781 which marked the start of an end of the American Revolution. Although he opposed some of the British policies on their American colonies, Cornwallis still served his duties for England. In 1787, George Washington became the President of the Constitutional Convention. After Cornwallis' surrender at Yorktown, his career in politics was not totally affected. He was appointed to different political responsibilities and had contributed honorable achievements to the British Empire.
