Argumentative Paper
First off, I just wanted to let you know that I love you very much. Despite our differences in recent times, you are still my son, whom I love dearly. I remember when you were young you wanted to be just like me; listening to every word and following all my advice with a passion. I have watched you grow to a young man of eighteen, and am still just as proud of you as the day you were brought home from the hospital. In recent years, you have come into your own right, and my opinion has come to matter much less in your decisions. As much as it hurts me, I know that at your age you need to stand on your own feet. However, as you approach the end of your senior year in High School, I must disagree with your current path to start directly working rather than enroll in school. College is essential in our world today. I know that school seems dull, but I don't think you understand how essential it is for a successful and financially stable life in future years. It is true that many people who go straight into the work force make more money on average than people who go to college. I know that you have a lot to think about, and I just want you to know that I am here for you whenever you need any information which would further assist you in your costly decisions. As the inflation of this country has increased steadily since the dawn of the 21st century, it is important to remember that things are continuing to get more and more expensive. These types of programs do not offer an education which can adapt with the ever-changing technologies of modern life. For these reasons, you see, it is advantageous to go to school directly out of high school while you have a limited number of responsibilities to hold you back from investing so much time in school. The fact is, this is not a high enough degree to compete for jobs in today's marketplace. You said to me the other day that one reason you did not want to go to College was that you were not sure what you wanted to study. u now, is that you take a few minutes to read what I have to say; remember the time you once hung on every word I said, give me your full attention just one more time. Most freshmen entering two and four year universities have no idea what they want to major in. Especially in today's world, where the majority of recent high school graduates are going to College, you will be forced to compete with younger and smarter applicants. So, I say get into College, and then worry about what types of classes and programs you want to be involved in.
