Frankenstein The pursuit of knowledge is what drives mankind to achieve new and monumental achievements. We thirst for it as though the world that we live in is never enough to keep our imaginations churning, we know there is something more out there, and will stop at no lengths to find it. This thirst is what lies at the heart of the Frankenstein, it's what drives Victor Frankenstein to dangerous and disturbing levels of discovery and what lands Robert Walton trapped between sheets of ice on the open sea.Born on August 30, 1797 as an only child of Mary Wollstonecraft, the famous feminist, and William Godwin, a philosopher and novelist. She was also the wife of the poet Percy Bysshe Shelley. Mary was lucky enough to have lived through the Romantic era into the Victorian. Mary was born during the eighth year of the French Revolution. Since she was a child, Mary was treated as a unique individual with remarkable parents. High expectations were placed on her and she was treated as if she were born beneath a lucky star. Mary never fully recovered from this trauma. For the rest of her life, Mary lived in England, which she hated because she was shunned by all social groups. The couple left for Italy, because of the publics' hostility towards them. [1]At the age of sixteen Mary ran away to live with the twenty-one year old Percy Shelley, who was at the time an unhappily married heir a to very wealthy family. He is deeply moved and becomes conscious of the direction that his journey to the North Pole will take if not to turn back immediately. Victor Frankenstein attempted to surge beyond accepted human limits and access the secret of life. Born of various corpse body parts, chemicals and the dream of a knowledge obsessive scientist, Victors creation was a monstrosity to say the least.
