Life After Death

It is difficult indeed to go against an ingrained sense of right and wrong, unrighteous or righteous thoughts or even beliefs or non-beliefs in the hereafter, otherwise referred to as life after death. From the time we are small children, and in some cases even before then, most humans are taught of certain beliefs held by their parents, and in many cases siblings. The learning of these beliefs can be linked to both indirect and direct methods of teaching. The direct method is cut and dried in nature, your parents, clergy, and others instruct you that there is a God, that the God watches over you and that when you die you will be reunited with that God and your family and loved ones that have passed on before you. The indirect method is when such instructions come through other means, such as friends, cohorts, media, and even books that you read. In my case the overwhelming evidence as I was being raised was that there is a God and that one day, after we are taken from this world through death, we will live with this God being granted life after death for living this life in as righteous a manner as possible. My evidence for this belief coincides with millions of others, and includes not only my feelings on the subje

Thirteenth-century monks wrote of a farmer who returned from the edge with tales of "corridors of fire" and "icy" paths to the afterlife" (Koerner, p. For most religious people, I count myself as one of these, the Bible and other scriptures are the final word on what we believe, how we should act, and if there is such a thing as life after death. What really matters is how the individual will act during his or her life on earth. "In the wake of last month's attacks on New York City and Washington, D. "Over two millenniums ago, in the Republic, Plato recounted a gravely wounded soldier's journey toward "a straight light like a pillar, most nearly resembling a rainbow, but brighter and purer" (Koerner et al, p. Many of the individuals who experience these NDE's describe the same type of event, with descriptions such as long tunnels, bright lights and seeing figures dressed all in white. Plato is as respectable a person as can be found throughout history, and it is an easy matter to believe something espoused by him. In the book, Moody describes people who have Near Death Experiences (NDE's) and have survived to tell that tale. Whether it is a certain spot in the body that is linked to God, or the books that are read, or the teachings that are taught, it is certain that many individuals experience spiritual events throughout their lives, and that these events have been taking place for centuries. , untold numbers of people around the world have looked to their sacred scriptures for solace and meaning. Earlier this paper mentioned that NDE's were described in Raymond Moody's book, what was not mentioned was the notoriety achieved by Moody since the book was published. He went on to say that he had seen that look in a number of children's eyes immediately after they had experienced near death, but had never seen the same look in the eyes of those individuals who had their right temporal lobe artificially stimulated in order to achieve a similar experience.
