1. Diversity has become a matter of great importance for nowadays companies that activate in a global environment. Diversity as a strategic choice gains more ground in the detriment of traditional strategic choices, given the complex diversity of workforce, on the one hand, and of the target markets, on the other hand. However, the implementation of diversity as key strategic choice has its advantages and its disadvantages also. Even so, the orientation towards supporting a diverse workplace tends to attract more positive effects rather than negative ones. It is my opinion that diversity brings positive effects on a long term, while the negative aspects involved by orienting towards diversity are of short term only, and they can be counteracted in time, with suitable measures that need to be taken.The most important advantage provided by the diversity of the workforce resides in the fact that this strategy enhances competitive advantage. The reason for this is the fact that the most important resource that any company has is represented by its human resource. Customers will also feel that their importance is well recognized by the company if a great deal of attention is paid to such issues regarding diversity. There are several aspects that must be taken into consideration when trying to create a diverse workplace within a company. Not every employee is open to such changes regarding the diversity of the workforce. The short term personal growth process proposed by Blessing White must be applied in all its details. These positive outcomes include improving the company's bottom line, reducing turnover, promoting cooperation among the company's staff, and improving the company's relationship with the community it activates in (ABA, 2004). One of the most important aspects related to the situation relies in understanding the fact that in order for this strategy to succeed it is imperative to have the support of all managers and their subordinates. Another aspect that influences the degree of success of such a strategy refers to thoroughly studying the company's market environment in general, and its customers and markets in particular. Therefore, for a company that promotes diversity it is recommended to employ individuals belonging to majority groups in management positions, due to the fact that they can influence majority's opinion towards dissimilar employees, which will lead to the success of the diversity based strategy.
