American Power: A Blessing?

             September 11, 2001 is one of the most surreal experiences I ever had. I was employed at bank located one block away from the World Trade Center when the planes hit the two towers. Pentagon was also attacked that day which killed hundreds of officers who worked for the US Department of Defense. With these unexpected attacks, the United States has suffered a tremendous loss financially and most importantly has lost many lives that reached in thousands. Amidst the rubble and chaos, I vividly remember how America proudly rise up to the challenge and helped each other get through that day. Through its most vulnerable moment, it assembled it brave troops and launched a massive global search for whoever is responsible for this horror. Despite the criticism of my adoptive country, it is my view that other countries should give the American ideologies a chance and most of importantly, respect it. Though it may not be a perfect system, countless immigrants have benefited from land of opportunity.
             America's power and influence can be felt and seen in any part of the world. Its culture and values fascinates other foreign countries. Others might embrace it while some might resent it. Unlike other who is ungrateful to this country, I am proud and thankful everyday that my family has been blessed with the opportunity to achieve our dreams.
             Although I agree with Caleb Carr when he stated that other "socially repressive societies" (427) and the terrorist groups both fear that the United States because of its tremendous influence, I disagree that the attacks are "entirely understandable" (427). I rather find his analysis trivial as if I should not be too surprised if I get blown up someday because I happen to choose to live this way.
