Michelangelo's Pieta, David, and the Sistine Chapel Frescoes: Discovery and Rediscovery of Techniques and Concepts
It is a pretty safe assumption that the great works of Michelangelo will never be duplicated. But some of the techniques and concepts used in Michelangelo's work - and the brilliant artistic efforts of others from Roman and Greek genres - remain of great interest, and probably always will be. This paper investigates the discovery and rediscovery of techniques and concepts from that period, with particular emphasis on Michelangelo's Pieta, David, and the Sistine Chapel Frescoes. The paper also explores how cutting-edge digital technologies are being used to recreate - albeit not duplicate - the great Michelangelo works, which have applications vis-a-vis this paper as well.
