Community of a Catholic Children's Church

             "The parish of St. Mary Magdalene is a Roman Catholic faith community? who, in the spirit of Jesus Christ through the Holy Spirit, welcomes all people, cherishes the Eucharist, fosters faith formation for all ages and serves our?parish and the larger community in hope and charity." This is the church's mission statement. St. Mary Magdalene is located in Flint, Texas and is part of the Tyler Catholic Diocese. It serves as an outreach to the Flint/Bullard/Tyler community. As stated in the mission statement, all people, meaning all denominations are welcome. Many parishioners that attend this church are simply overflow from the main neighboring Tyler Catholic Church, which is Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and also a part of the Tyler Catholic Diocese. Not only does my family attend this church, but our daughter also attends their supported elementary school, Saint Gregory Cathedral. These two establishments are very much a part of my family's community. After attending the community meeting organized by the St. Mary Magdalene Faith Formation Team, which leads in the Christian education of our children, I was able to apply the seven core concepts to this institution's cause.
             St. Mary Magdalene Faith Formation Team has a community gathering for its children every summer known as Vacation Bible School (VBS) for children ages 4-12. This is the 6th summer for this group and enrollment has increased over the years from 60 the first year to 125 participants this year. There are several meetings held in order to plan and organize events, gather volunteers and make decisions for each year's VBS. This year's theme will be The Vatican Express...Don't' Miss the Bus. I attended the meeting that took place on June 8, 2012 at 11:30 am.
