Short Story Sample

             Ever since that night, Phil became anxious, scared and even paranoid. It was the week after his high school graduation and he was headed to the school of his dreams. He wanted to celebrate. He and his brother talked about going on a trip to Mount Blanc, which was considered to be the most beautiful mountain in the world, and now they were finally able to go. However, they were in for a turn of events.
             As soon as Phil and his brother arrived in the Alps, they went on a bus to go to the mountain. On the way there, Phil noticed that his brother was wearing a necklace similar to the one that his grandfather wore before he left for battle.
             "Tommy, where did you get that necklace?"
             "It was given to me by grandpa before he left for..." Before he could finish the sentence, the bus hit an object on the road and spun into the side of a bridge.
             "Tommy! Tommy! Wake up! We have to go!" Tommy lay there motionless. His seat-belt was jammed.
             As Phil tried to release the belt, he felt a force pulling him back. "No! We can't leave Tommy!"
             Before Phil was pulled out of the bus, he made one last attempt to save Tommy. As his fingertips left Tommy's shoulders, the necklace came off and into his hand. The car dived into the icy water and that was the last he saw of Tommy. The necklace was the only remnant of Tommy, and ever since then, Phil wore the necklace in respect of his brother.
             Later that week, Phil began to see images. However, this would not be the first of his problems. The images began to get worse and worse as the days went by. He received a variety of treatments from the world's most renowned doctors; however, none of them were able to help. The doctors were in disbelief as Phil constantly told them that he could see his own death. Finally on his twentieth birthday, he received the help he needed, or so least he thought.
