There is an age old question that has been causing arguments among people for centuries. This question has been brought up in many conversations over the past 20 years,and I have always remained neutral.Some people are far from neutral when it comes to answering this question. Who is the best friend? Is it the dog or cat?
             Dogs have always been referred to as,"Man's Best Friend", but dogs love everyone. So why hasn't this statement been replaced by, "People's Best Friend"? A dog's love is unconditional. They wait for us to come home from work. After hearing the car pull into the driveway they pace up and down the stairs, and go from window to window until we get to the door. The moment you turn the knob on the door you can hear them standing on the other side waiting to greet you with happy tails and high pitched barks. As you get comfortable on the couch, to watch your favorite television show, they will sit right next to you for support. They are great company for long walks in the park. There are many different breeds to choose from,or you could get a mixed breed from the shelter. It has been a pleasure knowing many wonderful dogs, but one stood out above the rest. She was the most beautiful Egyptian Pharaoh Hound in the world. She allowed me to call her Selene, and was one of my best friends for 11 years. From the moment I saw her, snuggled in among her litter mates, I knew in my heart that she would complete my family. After a long discussion with the breeder, about how to make sure she has the best care, we walked to the car and headed for home. This would prove to be an exciting evening for everyone, including "Gabriel, the Cat". Gabriel was not shy in any way, and since this was his home he needed to let Selene know this. Selene did not seem to have a problem with this and welcomed his attention. They became immediate best friends.
