As Americans, we live in one of the most technologically advanced societies in the world today. What this means for us it that we can access information faster and more often than our ancestors would have ever thought possible. In less than one hour on the Internet, a person can find a lost friend from high school, buy a car, book a flight and play a video game. This amount of access to knowledge has launched us into what many are calling the "Information Age", but it is also an age of advertising. With the advent of new technologies over the years, companies have devised new ways of enticing the populations to buy their products. In the early parts of the 20th century, advertising companies had very little options as to where they could place their ads in order to sell products. Before the invention of the radio, newspapers and magazines were the most widely distributed media. When the radio came along, people were attracted to this new form of entertainment. Perhaps the best example of this is beer commercials. Americans can be assured, that as new technologies arise new forms of advertising will grow right along with them. Most advertising that takes place on the internet is a more advanced form of product placement. Every year at the end of January, during the Super Bowl, people become al most as excited about the commercials as the game itself. This industry also relies on the growth of technology in order to expand its business.
