Immigrant Contributions Make America Throughout its history, America has served as the destination point for a steady flow of immigrants. Immigrants from all corners of the world, continue to flow into the United States bringing with them a variety of cultures and religions. They come here to seek solace; to escape the deplorable conditions of their home countries. For centuries, the American culture has been a beacon of hope to the oppressed peoples of collectivist economies and authoritarian or totalitarian governments throughout the world. America is a free nation, we base our existence on equal opportunity for all individuals. America is a growing nation, we need diverse individuals to help this growth along and to enrich our existence. Unfortunately so many people in America, as they have for so many years, fail to acknowledge the positive effects of immigrants. They go on from day to day bashing the immigrants and highlighting only the negative aspects of immigration. The men and women from diverse regions of the world enrich America, their contributions are seldom recognized but they are imperative to our country. Contrary to popular belief, immigrants do not push Americans out of jobs. The greatness of America is merely a reflection of the sacrifice, contributions and efforts of immigrants. --disagreeable labor is necessary 'and the foreigners do it uncomplainingly. " Without the hard work of the immigrants, there is no possible way that America would be able to grow so rapidly and become such a wealthy nation. The fact is that without immigration, America would be nonexistent. Immigrant contributions, however, go far beyond food and celebrations. I like Japanese and Chinese food, if it weren't for immigration how would I ever be able to enjoy it? My favorite day of the year is Cinco de Mayo, the Mexican day of independence, I am able to share in all of the festivities because these immigrants are willing to share their culture with me. But we must keep in mind all of the wonderful things that the foreign-born have done for America. They have shared with us their culture and heritage, Helen D. It is important to realize that most of us would not be here if it were not for immigration. With out doubt, immigrants most notable contribution has been to the labor market in America. Some of the most accomplished workers have been immigrants, for they do not lack the will to work nor do they complain about sub-par working conditions.
