To Kill A Mockingbird

             Harper Lee, who wrote "To Kill A Mockingbird", lived in the south when she was younger. Many people say she based her stories on her personal experiences. This book is about a man named Tom Robinson. He was a black man accused of raping a white women named Mayella Ewell.
             The story takes place in the 1930's, in the town called Maycomb County, Alabama. A lot of people didn't have much money at this time and it seemed like everyone had a garden. At this time a lot of white people hated black people. There were three kids that had fun throughout the story. But there were a lot of people that had many problems at this time. Take Tom for example. He was accused of doing something that he didn't do.
             The center character of the book was Scout. Throughout the book she went from an immature girl to a mature lady. Jem, who was Scouts older brother, was the kind of kid that kept Scout from getting into trouble. Atticus Finch was Jem and Scouts father. He was also Tom Robinson's lawyer. Scout had an aunt that she didn't like too much. Her name was Alexandre. Calpurnia was the Finchs' cook. She was a black woman that didn't like Scout to fight or act like a boy. Boo Radly was said to be a very mean man, but wasn't. He was a very nice man that wouldn't hurt anything. Mayella was the white women that Tom was accused of raping. She didn't seem to be very smart. And Bob Ewell he is a very bad man that is the one who accuses Tom for raping Mayella.
             Back in the 1930's black people didn't have many rights. They were considered outsiders. They tend to stay away from white people except one. His name was Tom Robinson. Tom was accused of raping a white woman named Mayella. One day, Tom was walking along the road, and Mayella was standing out and told Tom that if he would come in and help cut some wood, she would give him a nickel.
