Adolf Hitler
In Braunau, Austria, a small town across the Inn River from Germany on April 20,1889, Adolf Hitler was born. Not long after his birth, Alois Hitler, his father, moved the family to Linz, Austria. Hitler attended school in Linz. He was a good student until he was in high school. Hitler's desire to be an artist and his academic abilities did not please his father because Alois hoped that his son would study to become a government worker like he had been. In attempt of fulfilling his dream of becoming an artist, Hitler went to Vienna, Austria in 1907. He gave up on that dream after he failed the entrance exam to the Academy of Fine Arts twice. During this time he lived in cheap rooming houses or slept on park benches without a healthy mean nor a steady job. And it is also here where he began to hate non-Germans. Though he was only a German-speaking Austrian, he considered himself a German.He did not believe in treating all ethnic groups equally and ridiculed the Autrian government for doing so. The war was ended with the Treaty of Versailles, which brought humiliation to the Germans on June 28, 1919. and seven days later, Germany surrendered. And once Hitler was in that position, he moved quickly towards attaining dictatorship. She took poison and he fired a pistol at his head. The inflation was so bad that a visiting US congressman exchanged $7 for 4,000,000,000 DM, the German currency. He organized the Storm Troopers for the Nazi party to fight groups seeking to disband the Nazi rallies. He took control of Germany when von Hindenburg passed away in 1934 and gave himself the title "Fuehrer", meaning leader. The attempt failed and Hitler was arrested and sentenced to prison for five years for treason. Before Hitler was stopped in 1945 by the Allied countries, he had caused the extermination of over 12 million people. President Paul von Hindenburg appointed Hitler Chancellor of Germany on January 30, 1933. By 1929, the Nazis had become an important minor political party. By this time extermination camps were already being established throughout Germany, Poland, and Russia. While in prison, Hitler wrote Mein Kampf (My Struggle).
