The Biker Family
A motorcyclist is a doctor; he is a lawyer, a father, mother, son, daughter, or grandparent. A motorcyclist could be a teacher, a student, mechanic, or congressman. But so often they are given the title "biker" without taking the time to look at who they really are. Bikers are often labeled as rebels. They are perceived to be hell-bent, wild and crazy. Many people see their motorcycles, tattoos, and leather and label them as bad asses and see them as social outcasts. They are depicted as gangs instead of what they really are, families. Their appearance has alot to do with the negative stereotyping that they receive. People tend to think that they wear black leather for some kind of an intimidation factor and therefor view them as bad asses. When in fact, they simply wear it to protect their skin when they're out on the open road. People usually view their bandannas in the same way. When most of them actually wear bandannas to control their hair. They are called freaks and outcasts because of they're tattoos. Some people even think of them
They are also perceived as careless and thought to have no value of life. But all groups have these types of individuals. But so often society bases its perceptions of an entire group off of the actions of a few. These sources often depict bikers as hard core drug addicts who throw caution to the wind. Especially since it is perceived as an unnecessary risk in life. When in actuality bikers ride for many good causes and help many needy people. All that matters is that they share a common interest, a kind of bond amongst each other. The group that they have formed will last a lifetime and along the way help and support many local charities and organizations. They have various reasons and beliefs that tie them to their motorcycle and the life accompanied with it. Some people ride for the thrill, others for an escape from everyday life. Now all of this is not to say that there are no stereotypical bikers out there. This is because riding a motorcycle is thought of as very hazardous and dangerous.
