Due July 12, 2004 Holiday's There are so many different holidays celebrated around the world. Many people celebrate the same holiday, but in a different way. There are holidays based on religions, ethnic backgrounds and races. Christmas, Kwanzaa and Boxing Day are celebrated throughout the world. Even though there are so many different religions they all have one thing in common these holidays are when it is a time to be with family. Kwanzaa, in the African language of Swahili mean "First fruits of the harvest it is one of the largest growing holiday's in the history of the world. The holiday began thirty years ago when Dr. Maulana Karenga decided that African Americans needed an annual event to celebrate their differences. Kwanzaa is an seven day celebration beginning on December 26 and ending on January 1. Each day has a special meaning and a unique way to how it should be spent. The first day is unity (umjoa), the second day self determination (kujchagulia), the third day collective work and responsibility(ujima), the fifth day purpose (nia), the sixth day creativity (kuumba),and the seventh day is spent in f


One of the most common symbols of Hanukkah is the menorah (A candelabrum holding eight candles, one for each of the eight nights of Hanukkah). Boxing Day soon became a holiday for employers to show an expression of gratitude to their servants by giving boxes containing, food, fruits, clothing and money. The Talmud (the body of Jewish oral law) were making ready to rededicate the Temple, but they were unable to find enough undefiled oil to light the lamps ,but in one of the other chambers they finally came upon some oil.
