Who and what responsible?
"I... shall... revenge..." This is the quote that we usually hear from a character of the ancient or sci-fi movies. It was something wrong with him, like his opponent killed his father, his mother, his wife, his son, or his best friends and the only solution was to retaliate the enemy, the killer. However, we still have to ask why this has to occur? Was it a product from our own natural view of violence? Hence, according to the law of fission( it probably works in this case) our natural view of violence has been revealed, exposed and expanded just like the law of fission and we are the cause for the reaction. In my Western Civilization history class, we studied about the Greek culture and there was a story from the blind author named Homer who wrote "Iliad." The story was about the Greek's dictator named "Agamemnon" attacked the City of Troy and conquered it. He had a warrior named "Achilles" who was the fastest runner and the best warrior of all. In the story, he was a peaceful man who didn't want to fight anyone for wars. However, Hector, the first son of the King of Troy, killed Achilles' cousin/friend, Patroclus. The raging of Achilles went up and then he retaliated on Hector and took Hector's body to his friend's
I am not good enough to judge anything because I'm not perfect. There were two types of games or contests: the first was purely athletic events which were not popular but one game in this category that the people like was boxing. They are totally bloody, ruined, savage, and outrageous: shooting, beating, poisoning, assassinating, fighting, using drugs, throwing grenades, and "more to come". Achilles was killed because he was saving his loved one not because he died from a battle. Paris, the second son of the Trojan King, killed Achilles by shoot an arrow to Achilles ankle. Research indicates that media violence has not just increased in quantity; it has also become much more graphic, much more sexual, and much more sadistic. Many of these gladiators were slaves or prisoners-of-war. (3)Television commercials have long presented the sexes in stereotyped ways. The game was bloody; the opponent can kick, punch, wrestle, and even humiliate the opponent; there were no rules as long as the boxers can entertain the spectators. In Vietnam, when I was a child I liked to see the two roosters, perfectly armed-two hooks were bound to the "heels" of their feet- fighting each other. It is thought that on the day the Colosseum opened, over 5,000 animals were killed. But nothing is perfect even the earth itself: volcanoes eruptions, earthquakes and so forth. The casualty rate per 'show' was massive -near enough 50% died each show (4).
