             Public Relations plays an important role in successful corporation and successful people. Most corporations either have a Public Relations department also known as a marketing department or an outside firm that is responsible for these functions. The Public Relations team is responsible for promoting the company and is involved in the strategic planning of the organization. This paper will summarize some of these functions of Public Relations with a specific focus on, Public Relations trends, the differences in publicity and advertising in terms of their impact on publics, Public Relations planning and crisis management as well as the impact of positive and negative Public Relations in our daily life.
             What are global Public Relations trends? Public Relations trends tend to match that of the cultural trends in business. Business rely today on technology, almost every person in an office has a computer, e-mail, intranet and internet access, fax machines, cellular phones, pagers, palm pilots, access to the stock market, news that is broadcast around the world at a moments notice. Once we overcome the technology boom, we have to aware of the cultural boom. The United States has become a true melting pot of not only people from other countries but from cultural differences from within our own communities. We must be constantly aware of these cultural diversities when having conversations to be aware the people when our own organization and that of our customer and investors, these differences consists of, religious beliefs, political beliefs, sexual preferences, race, nationality, as well as many others. Another current trend is to outsource departments and form partnerships with other businesses.
