police departments

Police departments today operate on what is called a control principle. The control Principe is a branch of a theory that was developed by two classical theorists Max Weber and Frederick R. Taylor. What these two theorists came up is called the Classical organization Theory. These two theories came up with two distinct theories that explain how departments or a working condition should operate. Taylor devised his theory on how work was performed. During his time in the late 1800's to early 1900's people who worked often worked until exhaustion. Also there was hardly any training for these people so there job was done up to expectation. Which led t people wasting time correcting the mistakes that they have made. While Weber made his theory based on the structure of the working condition. He based his theory on structures. People can move up on these structures if they made certain gains. These gains could lead to promotion t a mangers position. Taylor's work was setup to increase worker effiency. And he believed there were certain principles that had t be applied t achieve succeeds in the work place. This type of theory is called scientific management. He believed that if workers worked more efficiently having the training they need they could produce more, work less, and make more money for the company and themselves. Unlike Weber who studied the administrative part of the job Taylor focused his work on the employee. He did his research in a rock quarry. Where many workers could not last a whole day due to fatigue. First Taylor designed shovels to make the work easier for the employees who for the most part work picking up stones by hand. This was easy since u get to lift up more rocks with a shovel than you could with your bare hands. But however the size of the rocks changed. Some of the rocks were light and others were extremely heavy. So Taylor came up with more shovels that would equal out the weight of the rocks...
