Movies

             Although I have never been to France or Italy or New York, I still seem to know a lot about those places. It's not though geography or history class, but it's really mostly from watching movies about the places. You can learn a lot about a country from watching a movie about it, but most of the time it's really stereotyped; like from being there, I know that Texas isn't really all guns and cowboys, which is what most western movies seems to portray it as. However despite the fact that some of the information you learn from a movie may not be true, films do still tell us a lot about the history, customs, and beauties of a certain place.
             One of the places a lot of movies are made is Rome. From what I can tell from the movies I've watched, is that Rome is a very historical place with a lot of beautiful ancient buildings: like the coliseums. One of the most recent films about Rome that I've seen is "The Lizzie McGuire Movie"; Rome was really the perfect setting for this movie. There were a lot of scenery scenes that really added to the mood of the movie. The beauty of Rome and just the magnificent places in Rome made the movie more romantic and full of wonder. It showed all the stereotypes: the little cafes, miniature motorcycles, all the tourists, the sites, everything. The movie also showed how friendly the people of Rome were, like when a lady was giving away this big wheel of cheese. But I think it's all these movies that made Rome seem like such a wonderful place and one of the main reasons why it attracts so many tourists.
             Another place I've learned a lot about from watching movies is New York. Some movies portray New York as a dangerous place with dangerous people, with gangs and murder and all the scary stuff.
