Why should we study Shakespeare

             The study of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, in schools, is an extremely beneficial exercise. It teaches students about many issues to do with human experiences. It is more than just a story of love. It is a play of contrasts; love, hate; joy, sorrow; light, dark; youth, age; life and death.
             Love in Romeo and Juliet was a significant factor in Shakespeare's play. The most prominent 'love' relationship was the love between Romeo and Juliet. Their love was surreal, yet we all yearn for love at first sight with its fairytale feeling.
             Love, as a topic, has great appeal and relevance to youth today.
             At their first meeting, Romeo and Juliet's mutual attraction and their play on words is perfectly captured through the Shakespearean language.
             "Romeo: If I profane with my unworthiest hand
             This holy shrine, the gentle sin is this:
             My lips, two blushing pilgrims, ready to stand
             Too smooth that rough touch with a gentle kiss.
