drugs in sport

Question: Should human performance enhancing drugs such as growth hormones be allowed in cycling?
If human growth hormones (HGH) were allowed in professional cycling, there would be both advantages and disadvantages. If they were allowed, we would see much closer races, world records broken, stronger, faster and more skilled riders, more exciting viewing and increased ticket sales and revenues. There may also even be an increase in the amount of people that would participate in the sport around the world. However, there are also many disadvantages of allowing human growth hormones in cycling. There is the cost of buying and administering the drugs, the unknown side effects of using the drugs. It also makes it even harder for new riders to reach the top level of cycling. People see this topic as a major issue, as many people believe that drug takers gain a huge advantage over competitors and are therefore "cheats".
Human growth hormone is a substance produced by the pituitary gland, which is located inside the brain. Growth hormones are substances that build your muscles as you grow. Hormones react with amino acids in your body, which triggers them to grow muscle cells. Growth hormones not only help your muscles to grow, they also help your bones, tissues and organs to grow, and strengthen them at the same time.
