             Urban consolidation is a process of revitalising declining parts of developed areas with high-density housing. This process usually occurs in transport and communication centres. A city experienced this issue is Forster. Forster, a coastal holiday destination and retirement town, is located on the mid north coast of NSW approximately 180 km north of Newcastle. It is predicted that this town will inhabit 12 000 permanent residents by the end of 2005 and is rapidly increasingly due to better transport links to Sydney and Newcastle. This makes local visitors and overseas visitors easier access to the town, therefore creating more commerce with the locals. Due to the increase demand for land, the developers turned to build high risers and multi-storey buildings. Forster still is facing the issue of urban consolidation and because of this, the town is changed forever.
             Forster has Tall Building Areas where Tall buildings were and are still being built in. It is in this area where all the latest constructions are made. These developments are located around Head Street where the maximum height has been set at ten storeys. Beaches International hotel, in Head Street, east of the bridge to Tuncurry, is in a central location for all beaches activates that allows enjoys magnificent views. This complex was completed in late 1999 and replaces the former Forster Beach Motel, a two storeys, fibro and timber building extremely in need of renovation. The Sails, another complex that was also completed in around the same time as the Beach International on land that used to be a small block of holiday units built in the 1930s. These developments plus most other high-intensity buildings were created because of the increased numbers of people who wants to enjoy the popular facilities of the area such as access to views, beaches and shops that are all within comfortable walking distance.
