Anorexia

             Although anorexia is preventable, the increasing need to fit an ideal body form, causes teens to engage into unhealthy relationships with food and dieting. One of the most common experiences teenage girls are going through is anorexia. It is considered a disease, but can be brought up as a battle between your body and yourself. In the society we live in today it is not education or inner appearance that matters. Our generation is the most superficial era of all time. So who can blame a girl striving to be considered thin in this deranged world?
             They say that anorexia is a disease for people lacking control. I personally think that anorexia is a girl trying to match up to the standards of this world today. You can never be pretty or skinny enough. Nine out of ten girls have a negative body image. There are so many things to discourage your confidence such as commercial ads, pills, and other girls. And when you look at all of this it makes you question: are you thin enough? Now dieting is not a fad that comes and goes but for some people a way of living.
             The thing with anorexia is that no one can admit they have a problem. It's a fight with secrecy, shame, and you. They are unaware that their lives are on the line. Sometimes anorexics seek help but they don't know where to go. Now a days family members were the ones that started the disorder so when you can turn to your family who is there to turn to. Most of the time they feel alone and sometimes there right. It is never the individual who becomes anorexic it is someone of the outer world that makes them who they are. It is proven that it is easier to turn anorexic then to escape from it because they think they're fine.
             Girls who are considered normal by national standards are considered fat and are placed as a loner. The female new students appear to lose weight. One in thirteen girls are anorexic. Anorexia is an accepted social behavior. When girls see thes...
