The Hamlet Story

             We can argue that the reason why Shakespeare used poison with almost all of the characters in this play was quick dead, no questions asked. But some other may say it is unnoticeable death, unstoppable, dishonest, cowardly approach to the situations etc, whatever it was, it sure worked, they all died, and the play got its plot, and space in time.
             Since most of them were poisoned, this tells us how Denmark lost its values after King Hamlet died, there were no more wars to fight honestly, rather with spies all over the kingdom, and poisoning the people. This also tells us how new King Claudius was afraid but yet coward as well. We can say that he cannot openly think and that he was a real poison in the kingdom as well as in the play.
             Because compared to Hamlet he was evil, so the play got it's good vs. evil theme, usually in literature good prevails, I suppose in this story good also prevails but unfortunately with dead of Hamlet himself. Following characters are of importance in play and I will talk about each of them, and their destiny.
             Let's start with the Gertrude; she is a woman, a mother, who really loves her son, Prince Hamlet. On the other hand, she is caught in mind- body conflict, especially when Claudius decides to send Hamlet away for a while; she knew he doesn't mean anything good with that. When she looks at Hamlet she sees her when she was young, and while she is with Claudius he makes her forget all about that life.
             Although at the beginning of the play Gertrude doesn't display any signs of intelligence, however she does come at the end, by showing remarkable resolve later by confronting to the Claudius when he said not to drink from the cup, she defies her King and drinks anyway.
