             In the 'Macleans Sensitive' print advertisement, codes, or conventions, are used to try and sell the product to the intended target audience. The advertisement uses techniques such as the AIDA theory, written, symbolic and technical to try and get the attention of the intended target audience and bring forward the product to the target audience.
             AIDA techniques are used well in the advertisement and they use curious looking visuals that stand out, for example the 'tooth' shaped cup and apple, it uses the pictures to at first grab the attention of the audience and then direct it to the intended information about the ad.
             The target audience is obviously going to be someone that has sensitive teeth and hasn't found or isn't satisfied with their product. The big pictures tell the audience the ad is immediately about teeth, and even if the reading audience doesn't have sensitive teeth, the pictures look interesting enough to keep the readers attention.
             The written question 'Sensitive Teeth' falls under the category of written techniques because after seeing the picture the readers eye immediately goes to the words in bold and upon seeing this question the target audience is likely to interested from there on to read the rest of the advert which is the big body of text that contains all of the information on the product. After the information there is a picture of the product included down the bottom to give the target audience a picture of what to look for.
             The target audience is reached through a number of ways but the main one is technical and symbolic. This is because of the big picture of the tooth shaped objects.
