A Change in Attitude

Yesterday I had this dream, which made me realize how much each and everyone of us love our own life but we really don't care about other's lives. And the word that struck my mind immediately after I woke up was SELFISHNESS.

But if you were to ask me if that soldier is to be blamed for his selfish nature I would say no. Everyone in this world is selfish even though people deny this fact. If ever I met these kind of hypocrites I would ask them, will you try to save somebody's life when you know that you are risking your own life to do so? Would you give your food to someone if you yourself hadn't eaten for three days although the person may not have eaten for five days? Surely, they wouldn't. In other words they cannot, proving each and everyone in this world in self-centered, however small quantity it might be

The Maoist problem! The difference between the rich and the poor is widening day by day. People should be made aware of their responsibilities so that they follow their duty and others can do the same. If ever the Maoists valued other's lives they certainly would be thinking twice before pulling the trigger or hurting anyone. People should be brought up in such an environment where they can respect and care about people who are different from them, different in race, religion, standard or caste. You can take, for instance, the Kashmir issue. This way they don't have any respect for life and they can kill anyone anytime, may it be the innocent ones who have done no harm to them. By respecting other lives we respect our life and make it worthier. Both the sides do not want to compromise.

Just like respecting human life, we should also learn to respect to animal lives. The Indian government is selfish and it doesn’t want to give up Kashmir or even a part of it. They should be made to read stories of children like them having charitable qualities.

So, what should we do in order to stop selfishness, which has been the main cause to interrupt the peace of the world? I believe that we cannot change this human nature suddenly that is innate. Actually, inequality is the main reason for the people to join Maoists here in Nepal and revolt, thus spreading violence and hatred among each other.

What does it matter if all the people are selfish if there are no serious consequences? But it greatly matters because selfishness is the main reason for inequality, hatred and violence.
