values
"Most people think that their deeply held values are the result of rational choice, but reason often has little to do with the way people form values." Rational choice is not necessarily the base for forming values. It depends on the person whether he wants to define the reason for forming any value. There are many such things that don't require any reason for their justification and are important for a person simply because he considers those to be vital in his life. Also there is no sense to provide logical reasonings for his every opinion because any individual is free to form ideas .What is valuable to him may not be so for another person or his ideas may be considered totally spurious by the other person but that doesn't m
The world is too vast to decide what most of the people think and it is not possible also and hence the statement is ambiguous ,which has been made by considering the thinking way of the majority of people . The reasons provided by the two persons would buttress their respective mentalities and they would never agree with each other. However ,in some cases proper reasoning is required to verify the authenticity of a statement like in case of fact exploration and that is why our scientists and research scholars are busy in finding the reasons for any occurance . It is upto him whether he choses to do so or not when the matter is personal but if the matter is regarding others or has its effects on the general society then any value should be made on the basis of proper reasoning so that it is generally accepted by all. For example a person may have intense desire to know as much as he can about this vast universe then what reason he would give to elucidate his eagerness ?If he is influenced by some achievements in that field or by some other factor then probably he could provide one but if he simply has an interest regarding the matter from the beginning or the interest has developed gradually in him then would he be able to explain the reason logically to others? Also what is imporant or valuable for a person may not be so for another like one person may be loyal to his near ones and the other may not. If he himself doesn't know the reason then how he could explain it to others . Finally,It is not necassary thet a person would form every values of his life on the basis of rational choice. So it depends on the nature of the work to determine whether it requires any reason to validate it or not. There are many things in life that are valuable for a person because they are so . also while providing justice ,the court arrives to any conclusion by examining the reasons provided by the evidences. ean that he is required to convince others that what he considers valuable is really so.
