Critique of Lucifer principle
The Lucifer Principle, subtitled A Scientific Expedition into the Forces of History, is nothing less than Howard Bloom's explanation for everything that has happened in history. An examination of this book and the response it has generated lead to one inescapable conclusion: Canada will cease to be a viable country in the very near future. Howard Bloom, a professor at Yale since 1955 and at New York University since 1988, has for a long time been a major voice in literary theory and religious debate. His book, The Western Canon: The Books and School of the Ages "openly berates feminists, Marxists, and multi-culturalists for ranking books according to their social agendas." Although he had always been controversial in the past, that book set him further apart from mainstream thinking of the time. The Lucifer Principle, published in 1995, further established his reputation as an original and unique intellectual who could make use of his vast knowledge of literature, history, and religion to arrive at very different conclusions than his predecessors had. He was also not afraid of offending people by refusing to mitigate or moderate his opinions due to political correctness. Bloom's title derives from the Christ
If this is true, then there is one inevitable and inescapable ramification for Canada. The military would not even need to be an option. The Americans recognize this situation. Just as genes propagate themselves in the gene pool by leaping from body to body via sperms or eggs, so memes propagate themselves in the meme pool by leaping from brain to brain via a process which can be called imitation. For that reason, he argues that his readers (he makes it clear that he is writing for Americans) must "Never forget the pecking order's surprises. Once permission to hate is present, the outcome is always the same. Naturally, there has been some criticism of his ideas.
