The protagonist is introduced by the name Jose Samson. He is well known as Pepe. He lives in a barrio named Cabugawan near in the city of Dagupan in Pangasinan. He is described as a happy-go-lucky gut because he doesnNt give things that is very important to have or to do by a certain person. Besides that image, he does not like to study. As a matter of fact, he repeated his mid-grade and high school so many times. But still, he pursue to have a high school diploma just because he was let him graduate by the mercy of her mom and Auntie Bettina. He is also a guy with a bad attitude and even has a criminal character. Besides of all this negative aspects, he also has some good traits that you can consider him that he is also nice. Despite of laziness in studying, he likes literature a lot and tends to love it wholeheartedly in his personality. After he graduated, his mom and Auntie Bettina had decided to enroll Pepe in college but not near in their place but in the heart of Manila. One day, his Auntie Bettina visited him in her home in Manila. When Pepe got back to the barrio, he decided not to tell anyone what had happened. When they returned to Tondo, there were two messages that await Pepe from Betsy and Puneta. When Pepe arrived at the house, he got intimidated due to the luxurious house that greet him. In school, Pepe became class and school officer and in Tondo, He became a brotherhood leader where he honed his leadership skills. The wisdom that he absorbed from OKa LucioP gave him some ideas and basis for his judgment. Chapter 4 : Remember the Oppressor The man with a Mercedes car was named Kuya Nick. The two main persons that caught his attention are Betsy and Puneta. At first he thought of running but with all his courage, he approached her. Darkness filled the room and Pepe could not stand it anymore. Things that Pepe had no ideas about were asked and Pepe knew that he would be tortured. Chapter 12 : Chain of Centuries Pepe called Betsy and asked her to meet him. This is the first time he did this and certainly looses his virginity. Pepe then kissed her for the very first time. But still he is wondering and thinking of the past he experience, and the death of his friends.
